Here are the cover and chapter opening of my final graduation project book, an 80-page descriptive and illustrated guide with insights for creating animal characters.
For the two characters presented here, I applied the best practices detailed in the book, including: selecting appropriate psychological and physical traits: understanding the animal's anatomy; designing clear and distinctive silhouettes; choosing the right energy, weight, exaggeration, lines, and shapes; and incorporating details that reveal the character's history and personality.
Through the animals' body language, facial expressions, and the context of the illustrations, it's evident that the cheeta cub appears worried, sad, possibly in pain, and lost. In contrast, the bear illustration conveys happiness, suggesting he is about to feed on the fish in the lake.
